There is a chance that the Chief Minister KCR might announce a free Covid vaccine for all from May 1.

The AP Government led by Jaganmohan Reddy has decided that they will give Free Covid vaccine to all from 18 to 45 years of age. A decision to this effect has been taken by CM Jagan during a high-level meeting.

Now the state of Telangana under the dynamic leadership of K Chandrasekhar Rao is contemplating giving free Covid Vaccine to all.

KCR has sought further details on population demographics, the requirement of vaccines and sourcing of the vials, now that other vaccine players like the Russian Sputnik and Pfizer are likely to enter the Indian market soon.

Chandrashekhar Rao, who himself is in quarantine after testing positive earlier this week, is expected to take a final call once he is armed with all the facts and figures.

It is not merely the vaccine requirement of the 18 to 45 age group that would get added from May 1 but also the backlog population in the 45-plus age group that still have to get their first shot.

There is a talk that the PHCs are not being properly monitored by the Government. There is no proper awareness around the PHCs on the free vaccination front.

Some of them do not know about the second shot of vaccine that has to be taken within the stipulated 28 days. In fact, the common man has to run from pillar to post for getting a shot at the local PHCs. Some private Nursing home that gave the first shot is now turning away the people saying that there is no vaccine.

Storage of Vaccine is also a big issue at the PHCs.
