Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajendar has presented a  Rs149446 crore rupees Budget on March 11, 2017  for the fiscal year 2017-18.  The Budget has a revenue surplus of 4571 crore rupees.While the Telangana state presented its budget on time, the Andhra Government could not present the budget due to the demise of MLA Bhooma Nagi Reddy.  Major allocations were done for the welfare schemes as suggested by the CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.

The Finance Minister said that irrigation projects will be fast-tracked for early completion and necessary allocations would be made to meet the requirements. The power sector will get Rs 5,000 crore towards subsidy, he said adding that it will also offer a thrust to artisans and community-based professions as part of the government’s vision for social inclusion.

The TRS government has been focusing on inclusive growth and all-round development and allocations will be made accordingly to various sectors with focus on welfare, he stated. Rajender said priority areas would be addressed in the Budget in line with the Chief Minister’s vision of ensuring basic amenities like land, housing and other benefits for the downtrodden and weaker sections.

Based on the Chief Minister’s objective to encourage community-based professions, fishermen, Yadavs and artisans will get required allocations in the Budget for their development, he said. To provide better education to Scheduled Castes, Schedule Tribes, Backward Classes and Muslim Minorities, the government has come up with separate residential schools to offer best quality education on a par with corporate educational institutions, he said.

  • State’s Per Capita Income in 2016-17 is estimated to increase to Rs 1,58,360 this year from Rs 1,40,683 in 2015-16
  • State’s per capita income in 2016-17 is significantly higher than national average of Rs 1,03,818
  • TS growth in annual per capita income improved from 11.2 per cent in 2013-14 to 12.6 per cent in 2016-17 as against the declining national trend of 11.5 per cent to 10.2 for the same period
  • This revival is proof of total neglect of Telangana in unidivided AP
  • Rs 50,954.61 crore committed expenditure under revenue heads in 2017-18
  • Of this, Rs 4,659.48 crore earmarked for loan repayments, Rs 5,544.85 crore towards loans and advances, Rs 448.26 crore for capital heads

    • Kalyana Laxmi, Shaadi Mubarak beneficiaries to get Rs 75,116 in place of Rs 50,000

    • Rs. 985 crore allocated for  Industries

    • Rs. 5070 crore allocated for BC Welfare
    • Rs. 5330 crore allocated for Aasara pension

     

    • Fine rice will be provided at Anganwadis

     

    • Financial aid of Rs. 12,000 to be given for pregnant women

     

    • 75 per cent subsidy for sheep-rearing
    • Revenue surplus of Rs 45.071 crore in TS budget
