Vijayashanthi was not allocated a seat in BJP’s final list either.According to the BJP, Vijayashanthi wasn’t active in the party.
Vijayashanthi will be the fourth key leader to leave the BJP in less than a month, after the likes of former MPs Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, G Vivekanand, and Enugu Ravinder exited the saffron party.
Komati Reddy Rajagopal Reddy and Vivek Venkatswamy have already joined the Congress. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy is on the way.
The actor’s political journey has seen several twists; she initially joined the BJP in 1997 and held the position of General Secretary of the party’s women’s wing.
She left the BJP to form her own outfit, Talli Telangana, advocating for the separate statehood of Telangana. Later, she merged Talli Telangana with TRS (now BRS) and was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Medak constituency in 2009.
When it comes to films, Vijayashanthi made a re-entry in 2020 with Mahesh Babu’s “Sarileru Neekevvaru” which marked the end of a 13-year hiatus from acting, during which she focused on her political career.
