Financial assistance to farmers

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari today held a meeting with Collectors of Karimnagar, Suryapet, Khammam, Warangal and Mahabubabad districts followed by Teleconference with remaining District Collectors and reviewed the measures to be taken to extend financial assistance to those whose crops were damaged due to the recent unseasonal rains.

Special Chief Secretary Finance Ramakrishna Rao Secretary Revenue (DM) Rahul Bojja and Secretary Agriculture Raghunandan Rao attended the meeting.

Chief Secretary informed that the Honourable Chief Minister has recently announced financial assistance of Rs 10 thousand per acre for the damaged crops. Chief Secretary directed the collectors to form teams comprising of AEOs to assess the crop damage in accordance with the assurance of the Chief Minister.

Assessment of crop damage should be done in a fool proof manner without giving any scope for criticism, CS said. The teams should visit the fields and assess the damage and submit the report to the government at the earliest.

Senior officers of the district should be designated as special officers to supervise the process.

Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress in respect of Podu lands. Secretary Tribal welfare Christina Zongthu informed that pass books are printed and kept ready for distribution.
