Filing Of Nominations For Lok Sabha Polls Ends Today Evening

Collector and District Election Officer A. Md. Imtiaz said that all the candidates who report to the respective Returning Officer before 3 pm will be considered for the filing of nominations for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

At a press conference here on Sunday, Mr. Imtiaz said that all the arrangements to face last-minute rush on Monday, the last day for filing of nominations, have been made.

He said that the offices of the Returning Officers (RO) would be open till 3 pm. “All the candidates who report to the RO will be given tokens and nominations will be accepted accordingly. After 3 pm, access to the RO office will be closed and none will be allowed inside,” he said.

He said the ROs and Assistant ROs had been given training in scrutinizing the nominations, the process which would begin on Tuesday.

Grounds for rejection, considering a substitute over the main candidate and other aspects were clearly taught, he added.

He said most of the candidates of major parties have already filed their nominations. Candidates can withdraw nominations on or before March 28.
