The Mortal remains of Arun Jaitely(66) were consigned to flames here at the Nigam Bodh Crematorium in New Delhi. Home Minister Amitshah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present at the last rites of Jaitely. Jaitley’s son lit the funeral Pyre. Jaitley’s wife was also present by the side of the pyre.
The final rites of Arun Jaitley were performed this afternoon at about 3.05PM. PM Narendra Modi who was expected to pay his last respects to Jaitely here in Delhi could not make it. Modi is returning from Dubai.
Leaders like Arvind Kejriwal who opposed Jaitely also attended the last rites. It rained when the funeral pyre was supposed to be lit.
The mortal remains of Jaitley were kept at the BJP office till 1.30PM. The mortal remains were moved in a gun carriage to the party office.
Pm Modi was moved to tears when he was addressing a gathering of Indians in Dubai after receiving the award.
It may be noted that Jaitley died in AIIMS with some complications.
