“Modi will decide the Maha CM in the coming days. Mostly it could be FadnavIs. The present CM said, have told PM Modi that I would not be an obstacle. We would go with whatever he decides,” Mr Shinde told reporters today, underscoring that “no one is upset” and that he is “not greedy for any position”.
Both Fadnavis and Shinde worked for the elections to get the huge majority which was not expected.
With the BJP’s massive score in the assembly election, Devendra Fadnavis was seen as front-runner for the post. But there has been no announcement since Saturday for what many expected to be an automatic decision, apparently owing to resistance from Mr Shinde’s party.
Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena has been pitching for a second innings for its chief, claiming it was his government’s welfare schemes that steered the Mahayuti to victory. Uddhav on the other hand has lost his face in Maharashtra and no longer can claim the legacy of Thackeray.
