Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan gave a call to strive to end the digital divide so as to enable the students from underprivileged sections to continue their studies in post-Covid times.
She said that it was important that all the stakeholders to join hands to ensure accessibility of quality education to all the sections of the students irrespective of their socio-economic conditions.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan exhorted the civil society, corporate organizations, parents, school administrators, and philanthropic organizations to supplement the efforts of the governments in ending the digital divide and to ensure equality of all in accessing education.
The Governor was speaking, through a virtual mode, at the inaugural of the School Excellence Conclave on the theme of “Future of Schooling in a Post-COVID World,” organized by the CII, here, on Friday.
“The increased use of digital technologies and gadgets for online classes should not result in the denial of education to the downtrodden,” she said.
The Governor stated that the COVID-19 pandemic and the disruption it had brought in should not dilute the progress that we have made till now in providing universal education to all.
Emphasizing on the need to come up with COVID vaccine for the children at the earliest, she said that the paediatric COVID vaccine similar to that of the Polio Vaccine drops will turn out to be a game changer in our fight against the pandemic.
The Governor had suggested for the implementation of National Education Policy-2020 in schools to inculcate spirit of creativity, innovation, and critical thinking among the children, while taking care of their nutritional needs.
CII, Telangana, Chairman Sameer Goel, Convenor of the Conclave Prof. BS Murthy of the IIT, Hyderabad, were among those who spoke at the inaugural.
