Elections to 58 RS seats on March 23

The Election Commission announced that elections to 58 seats in the Rajya Sabha will be held on March 23, as MPs from 16 states are scheduled to retire in April-May 2018.

While the last date for filing nominations is March 12, the votes will be counted on March 23. The states include Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and Karnataka.

EC to hold biennial elections to council of states to fill the seats of members retiring in April-May 2018&a by-election to the council of states from the state of Kerala.

The term of office of 58 members of Rajya Sabha elected from 16 States due to expire on their retirement.
