The Supreme Court said that people cannot throw money at women in dance bars while issuing a notice to Maharashtra Government over new law for dance bar licenses in the state.
According to reports, the top court stressed that the act of throwing money at women was ‘against the dignity of women, culture and decency’.
The court have given the BJP-led state government six months time to file a reply on the new law drafted by it on dance bar licenses.
The apex court had in May directed the Maharashtra Government to grant licenses to eight dance bars within two days and asked them to give an undertaking that they would not engage employees with criminal antecedents near the dance area.
The new bill fixes accountability on the owner in case of violation of rules, exploitation of women employees, or in cases of obscenity.
