Dhanush made a stellar impression on the Telugu audience with Raghuvaran BTech, which was his first successful film here. Encouraged by the response, the actor has now decided to step into Tollywood with a sequel of the same film.
“#D33 bless us @soundaryaarajni @theVcreations @RSeanRoldan @anirudhofficial #bilingual Tamil and Telugu. (sic),” the actor posted on social media on Wednesday morning. The film will be directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
“For several days, a romantic comedy was being discussed. This move is sudden because the team came up with a wonderful script and wanted to begin soon.” The film goes on the floors in December.
At the same time after news that Karthik Subbaraj will cast Dhanush in his next film set in New York, local media has reported that Al Pacino, the legendary actor who is known for films like Godfather (1972) and Scarface (1983) may make an appearance in the Tamil director’s next film.
Earlier this year, director Shankar had wanted to rope in Hollywood action star Arnold Schwarzenegger to play the antagonist in his upcoming movie Enthiran 2, starring Rajinikanth, but things didn’t go as planned. The report also stated that Subbaraj had his eyes set on Morgan Freeman, but things didn’t go as planned and the idea was dropped.
Then the makers turned to Al Pacino; and the team is now discussing the script with him. Subbaraj’s last film, Jigarthanda, was dubbed as a musical gangster film and was well received by the audience and critics alike.
Nonetheless, Dhanush will be foraying into Hollywood after making his Bollywood debut with Raanjhana and then Shamitabh. Dhanush will be starring in The Fakir along with the likes of Uma Thurman and the film will behelmed by Iranian-French director Marjane Satrapi.
