Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances are creating havoc in society. Drug addiction has become rampant among the youth and some sections of society. Drug trafficking has become an organized crime. To break the chain cases have to be investigated in scientific manner, establishing the link from sources to destination. Search and seizure of drug has to be done properly as per procedure laid down in NDPS Act.
One day training on NDPS Act and investigation procedure was organized by ADGP, CID,TS, Hyderabad on 27-01-2023 for all units in Telangana. Sri Anjani Kumar, IPS, Director General of Police, Telangana State inaugurated the program and explained to participants about the importance of getting conviction in the NDPS cases. DGP, TS has mentioned specifically on Mohanlal case judgment of Supreme Court related to drugs case, appreciated initiative of CID on conducting the one day training.
Sri Mahesh M. Bhagwat, IPS, ADGP, CID, TS explained about the different types of drugs, their sources, destinations places and that Telangana is not a source of supplying of drugs, but a transit & destination. Stringent action has to be taken against offenders. (214) PD act cases were initiated against the offenders in 2022 in Telangana. He explained the importance of proper investigation in NDPS cases to all the participants.
Subject experts and resource persons were invited to conduct the training sessions. Mr. A. Ranghadhan, Superintendent, Director of Revenue Intelligence explained about the investigation procedure and prosecution with examples on details. Dr. Venkanna, Director, HoD Clues team, FSL, TS, Hyderabad explained about seizure procedure and equipment and analysis. State wide (220) officers participated in the training. Smt. C. Anasuya, IPS, SP Narcotics Cell, CID, TS, has coordinated the one day training programme.
