Prominent Tollywood director and former Union Minister ,Darsakaratna Dasari Narayana Rao passed away on Tuesday evening at KIMS hospital, where he has been admitted a week ago. He was 75. He directed more than 15 o movies and is a legend in his field. He will be cremated with state honours it is reported.
He is one of the top directors in the world for doing large number of films.
Dasari’s health condition turned critical at KIMS hospital, where he was put on haemo-dialysis. The doctors had performed a surgery to him three days ago.
Dasari had undergone gastric balloon surgery three days ago. Post this surgery, several internal organs were found to be infected. From Tuesday morning, heavy fluctuations were noticed in his blood pressure and sugar levels.
It may recalled that the ace director had fallen sick a month ago after he complained of difficulty in breathing. He was later discharged from the hospital after treatment. Since then, his health continued to deteriorate.
Rao is featured on the Limca Book of Records for directing as many as 151 films (like Premabhishekam, Bobbili Puli, Sardaar Paparayudu, Meghasandesham, Osey Ramulamma) , a few of which were also in Hindi (like Aaj Ka MLA Ram Avtar and Asha Jyoti). He also won two National Awards and four Filmfare Awards South.
The director also reportedly wanted to make a biopic of late chief minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa.
