Commuters from Hyderabad to other districts of Telugu states are in deep trouble. They are not getting tickets to their villages on one hand and on the other hand they are costing 4 times the original rate.
A ticket to Elur in private bus service is costing around Rs 3000 it is reported. The RTC services are full and the train services are full brimming with the travellers.
It is Dasara now and he next is Diwali. People would like to go to their villages and the cost of the tickets is holding them back. If a family wants to travel on a private bus it is costing them around Rs 10000 just one side. The two and fro is costing them around Rs 20000 which is very high.
Taking the high cost of transport into account some men are sending the lady and children to the villages as they can save around Rs 5000. The RTC is not having enough numbers of buses to absorb the festival rush.
The business is going to private travellers. Most of the private travels are being run by the Politicians in the background and there is no way we can arrest the hike in ticket prices.
The travel agencies are also making a fast buck by selling the tickets. The travels are also running car services and van services for the festival commuters. The TSRTC and also the APSRTC should sit together so that they can encash on the festival rush.
The TSRTC unions have given a strike notice and they may not bother about the travellers now. The poor and middle-class commuters are left in the lurch and they have no alternative means of transport.
The Governments must think of making alternative means of transport for the festival time and try to save the common man from being exploited by private travels. If the transport is costing around Rs 20000 per family how will they celebrate the festival with all happiness is the question.
