“CybHER III”, the phase three programme under the Cyber Congress initiative of the Women Safety Wing of Telangana State Police concluded its 10-month long programme and celebrated its accomplishment at a spectacular Grand Finale titled “Cyberathon” on Thursday. The event, held in collaboration with the Department of School Education aims at enabling adolescent students as cyber safety ambassadors at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavans Auditorium for the tri-commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda saw the felicitation of Cyber Ambassadors and many other activities.
Over 3300 cyber ambassadors, 1650 mentor-teachers, volunteer-mentors, headmasters and other stakeholders from 33 districts of Telangana participated in the implementation of the project.
The Grand Finale was attended by Smt. Swati Lakra, IPS, Addl.DG Women Safety & Bharosa, Smt. Sumathi Badugula, IPS, DIG – WSW & CID, Smt. Devasena, IAS, Director of School Education, Government of Telangana, Sri. G. Ramesh, Director of Samagra Siksha Abhiyan, Sri Rakshit Tandon, Cyber Security Expert and many others. A total of over 2000 students, teachers and other stakeholders were present here in the city.
During the last 10 months of the project, 100 students and 50 teachers from each districts were trained to become cyber ambassadors through a total of 80 virtual training sessions utilising a standardised Learning Management System (LMS) on important topics like cyber bullying, financial frauds, online gaming and other relevant cyber safety and security measures to improve their knowledge on prevention and redressal mechanisms in order to address cybercrimes. The Cyber Amabassadors will be acting as a catalyst and agents of change by promoting the importance of women’s safety in cyber spaces by allying up with the local She Teams officers in their schools and community.
The stakeholders involved in the project include the Department of School Education – Samagra Siksha, NGO and Implementation Partner Youngistaan Foundation, Mr. Rakshit Tandon as a Knowledge Partner and Trainers Mrs. Sailaja Vadlamudi, Mr. Sai Satish, sponsored by Continental Coffee and Innoright Solutions as a Technology partner.
Grand finale event was also held simultaneously across all districts of Telangana by the District Police Commissionerates, SHE Teams to felicitate the district’s Cyber Ambassadors.
Cyber ambassadors, mentor teachers, headmasters, and nodal officers from the education department, Volunteer mentors and She Teams Officer were felicitated for their active involvement in the project for the last 10 months. As an extension to the current project, it was announced that another set of 1650 schools and 3,300 students shall be identified for the Phase II of Cyber Congress for the academic year 2022-2023.
