Curb the cyber crimes

Several senior police officials who participated in the one-day regional conference on Cyber Safety and Prevention and Detection of Cyber Crime held today, opined that various government departments and agencies should work in coordination to curb the increasing cyber-related crimes in the background of the  development of technology.
At this high-level meeting held at the command control center in Hyderabad, Union Home Ministry Special Secretary Sundari Nanda, Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar, Goa DGP Jaspal Singh, Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Cyber Security Bureau Director Stephen Ravindra, I4C IGs, Rajesh Kumar, Yashaswi Yadav were present. Senior police officers from Karnataka, Rajasthan, Goa, Haryana, Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, Nalsar and ED also participated.
Sundari Nanda said that a Joint Cyber Control Coordination Team has been formed with the representation of all states to control the growing cyber crime in the country. She said that digitization is increasing significantly in services, service sectors and financial transactions, and the police system should also be equipped to prevent the increasing financial cyber crimes. There is an alarming growth of 127 percent in the registration of cyber crimes in the year 2022.
She opined that cyber volunteers and cyber commandos need to be specially formed to control these crimes.  Many illegal apps related to financial digital investment, loan and digital loans are operating from China and these have been identified and banned. Sundari Nanda praised the “1930” helpline set up against cyber crimes in Telangana state.
DGP Anjani Kumar said that Telangana which has become the address of the IT sector, prevention of cyber crimes is given utmost priority. A state-of-the-art cyber command and control unit has been set up and a police officer with special training on cyber crimes has been appointed in every police station in the state, he said. Telangana is also in the forefront in the registration and investigation of cyber related crimes.
 He said that some illegal loan apps have 5 to 10 lakh downloads and people are being sensitized through various social media platforms to avoid falling victim to these financial apps.
