Chief Secretary SanthiKumari directed the officials to critically monitor the drinking water supply situation in the state for the next one month.
She asked the officials to gear up the system so as to ensure that disruptions in water supply do not go unnoticed by them.
Chief Secretary held a meeting with officials of Municipal, Irrigation,Panchayat Raj departments and reviewed the drinking water supply situation in the state. She said that the areas where there is disruption in supply should be identified and steps should be taken to ensure that people are not made to suffer due to disruptions.
Referring to the water situation in the city she directed that maintenance works should be taken up only with the prior permission of the CGM concerned and alternate drinking water supply should be done by way of tankers in those areas.
The CGMs should conduct teleconference with the Managers under their jurisdiction daily and monitor the supply. Similar type of monitoring should be done by the Mission Bhagiratha and Public Health officials in their respective jurisdictions, she added.
Officials informed that pumping of water from NagarjunaSagar has already started and that the state is comfortably placed as far as drinking water supply is concerned till the end of May. CS however cautioned the officials to be vigilant with those who create artificial shortage deliberately and directed that strict action should be taken against them.
CDMA Smt Divya informed that supply situation is monitored daily in municipal towns and leakages if any are being rectified immediately, She said that helpline has been created in every municipality and any disruption of water supply is being critically monitored.
