Chief Secretary, Somesh Kumar, IAS, held a review meeting on the free electricity scheme to Nayee Brahmin and Washermen Communities upto 250 units at BRKR Bhavan today.
Somesh Kumar informed that of the total 28550 applications received, 10637 applications were from the washermen community and 17913 applications were from the Nayee Brahmins community under the scheme.
The CS directed that Collectors and officials of BC welfare departments should launch a massive drive for enrolment of beneficiaries under the scheme.
He instructed the IT officials to make provisions duly simplifying the process at free of cost for enrollment to enable the beneficiaries to submit their applications at Mee Seva centres.
He asked the CGG officials responsible for the website to forward the registered applications to the respective Discoms for availing the free power supply scheme.
It may be recalled that the government has issued the necessary orders and operational guidelines on the implementation of this scheme vide G.O.Ms No 2 of BC Welfare (D) department dated 04.04.2021.
