CS inspects Kanti Velugu

Chief Secretary Santi Kumari visited AV College today and inspected the Kanti Velugu centre. She went round the camp and interacted with the patients. She also handed over spectacles to a patient after the completion of the eye screening test.

Later speaking to newsmen she stated that the Kanti Velugu programme which is the brainchild of the Honourable Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekar Rao was inaugurated by him yesterday at Khammam. The eye screening camps are being conducted by 1500 teams with the involvement of around 15000 staff across the state.

CS stated that the state achieved an outstanding record during the first phase of Kanti Velugu programme in the year 2018 by conducting around 1.57 crore eye screening tests and distributing around 45 lakh spectacles. Over the next 100 working days arrangements are being made to exceed the previous record during the second phase this year. Steps are being taken to provide quality service to the patient in a record time and minimise the waiting time for the patient. The waiting time for longer vision spectacles has also been reduced, she added.

She appealed to the people to utilize the opportunity provided by the government and get themselves screened. She noted that during the first phase many elderly people including women availed this facility. Secretary health and family welfare Rizvi, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Commissioner health and family welfare Sweta Mohanty and other officials were present.
