Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be charing the first NITI Ayog meeting after he came to power for the second time. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has refused to attend the meeting as there is unrest in the state. She said that it was unacceptable to discuss the agenda being table by the Central Government for the states.
K Chandrasekhar Rao the Chief Minister of Telangana is unable to attend the meeting as he is busy with the preparations for the launch of the Prestigious Kaleshwaram project. KCR is yet to meet the Prime Minister after the elections. KCR could not attend the oath-taking ceremony as the flight got delayed and could not get the landing permission.
Jaganmohan Reddy the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has already met Amit Shah and impressed upon him on various subjects. He will also impress upon the Prime Minister in the NITI Aayog meet and urge upon him to grant the special status for the state.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is also expected to raise the special status issue for Bihar. He is a supporter of Modi and the BJP Government and has been urging special status for Bihar from time to time.
Biju Janata Dal is also planning to raise the issue of Special status along with the YSRC. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will join hands with YSRC Chief Jagan in the parliament for the special status. They would together present the issue to Prime Minister Modi in the parliament.
On the other hand, the Chief Ministers of the Congress states would raise the issue of the farmers in the country. They would raise the issues that were not solved by the NITI Aayog.
This is the fifth meeting of the NITI Aayog after it has been constituted by the BJP Government since 2014.
