With Maya and Akhilesh forming an alliance leaving the Congress aside, the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has decided that he would contest all the seats in UP. There are 80 Loksabha seats in UP and the SP and BSP are contesting 38 seats each leaving 2 seats to the Congress. There will be a triangular contest in the UP elections for the parliament. Congress, BSP -SP combine and BJP will in the fray. There is every chance that the votes of the opposition will get divided. This will benefit the BJP in a big way. If Mayawati, Akhilesh have taken Congress into their fold, they would get more seats in the coming elections. Akhilesh and Mayawati are of the opinion that the Congress is now insignificant in UP.
They have their permutations and combinations and are confident of coming to power in 2019 elections. UP has the highest number of parliament seats and if the opposition cannot come together here, then it is of no use forming an alliance in the other states. For any party which wants to rule the centre must win a majority of the seats from the UP. in 2014 BJP got 72 seats in UP and Modi is the Prime minister. But this time BJP may get less number of seats here. The state of UP is crucial for all the parties and it has to be seen what will Akhilesh and Maya do here in the coming elections. Meanwhile, Mamata didi is gearing up to become the PM candidate it is reported. Some of them have openly refused the candidature of Rahul Gandhi as the PM candidate.
