The situation is tense at Sabarimala Temple at it has reopened today. While the Temple authorities are not allowing women of all ages into the Temple, the court has directed that women of all ages can have the darshan of Ayyappa.
Earlier some women journalists tried to get the Lord’s darshan but were prevented and sent away by the local associations. The Vigil by the Ayyappa devotees to prevent women under the age of 50 continues. The local authorities have deployed around 1500 police apart from the commandos to avoid law and order issue here at the Temple.
While some people say God is the same for all and that there should be no gender discrimination, others say that the Temple rules have to be observed. The Temple board has made it clear that the court orders cannot be implemented. They would close the Temple and will not allow women of all ages, come what may.
The ladies who tried earlier failed and returned back and even now they may not succeed.
