Like Ganesha in various forms for Ganesh Chaturthi, now Durga is also being depicted and displayed in various forms and with various material for the Durga Navratri.
The latest being that Durga matha idol was made in white Chocolate and coloured for the event. She is sitting on the tiger and stepping on the lotus. The system is that these Durga matha idols are immersed in water after the Navami like the Ganesh idols.The Chocolate Durga will be immersed in milk.
The Chocolate idol would be made into milkshakes and distributed for the children as prasad.
It is a 12 foot idol with idol with around 1000 Kg chocolate specifically made for the Ashtami festival to be celebrated here in Kolkata. People are going around this Chocolate Durga with all Bhakti, but the children are waiting for the idol to be immersed in the Milk so that they can drink it for Ashirwad. People are looking after the Durga with all security and AC has been installed so that it will not melt down. Someone informed that it was insured also.
