The BRS Legislators have walked out of the Public accounts committee meeting. They charged that the ruling party was not following the rules in the appointments to the committees.
Prashanth Reddy said the Congress had ‘illegally’ appointed Gandhi in the influential PAC chairman’s position which is traditionally given to the opposition MLA. “Arekapudi Gandhi who defected from BRS to the Congress, was appointed by the Congress against longstanding norms, disregarding T Harish Rao, the candidate recommended by our leader and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao,” he stated. He demanded that Congress reconsider its decision and honour the traditions at least now.
Prashant reminded that when the BRS was in power, they appointed Congress-suggested candidates, like Krishna Reddy and Geetha Reddy, as the PAC chairpersons. He pointed out that even at the Centre, KC Venugopal recommended by Congress floor leader Rahul Gandhi was appointed as PAC chairman in the Parliament.
