Former Cricketer Azharuddin who was earlier facing the cases of match-fixing is now facing cases in the name of misappropriation of funds.
He got an anticipatory bail as he is contesting the election from Jubilehills on the Congress ticket. He will have to face the MIM candidate and the vote gets split between the Congress and MIM paving the way for the victory of BRS Gopinath Reddy.
There is an open talk that the Muslim votes will get split and BRS will win the election here. Adding to this the former MLA of Congress Vishnuwrdhan Reddy who has a stronghold in the slums has joined the BRS and he is working for Gopinath.
This makes all the difference to Gopinath and the BJP is nowhere in the race. The cinema people around the constituency are known to the brother of Gopinath as he is a producer.
Four criminal cases were registered against Azharuddin and others for alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 3.85 crore.
The funds meant for the purchase of cricket balls, gym equipment, fire safety equipment, and chairs at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Uppal, were allegedly misappropriated.
The cases were booked on a complaint by HCA CEO Suneel Kante Bose. Azharuddin and others were booked by the police for criminal breach of trust, cheating, forgery and criminal conspiracy.
