The Bollywood producers have come to a conclusion that the OTT is as good as the theatres when it comes to revenue generation. They are looking at both options.
But the Tollywood producers are in two minds. First, they have decided on going to the OTT. Producers like Suresh Babu who have a large number of theatres under them have decided to go for the OTT.
Suresh and hero Venkatesh wanted to go for the OTT release of Narappa and also Drishyma 2. But after the request of the Film Exhibitors, they are making a rethinking of the release on OTT.
Now they are waiting for the release in theatres. The produces and exhibitors had a meeting with the Chief Secretary of Telangana Somesh Kumar.
They demanded that the theatres must be allowed to collect the parking fee for the vehicles. Earlier if you take the ticket, the parking was free. They also wanted the Government to allow the canteens in the theatres to sell the snacks and drinks to be sold at whatever price they are interested in.
They want all the restrictions to be removed. The Telangana Government on the other hand has allowed the theatres to be opened with 100 per cent capacity.
Popcorn which costs around Rs 50 is sold for Rs 250 in multiplexes which is nothing but looting the customers. Two persons will have to shell down around Rs 1000 for going to a multiplex.
The TS Government must think twice before giving permissions to the multiplexes.
