Advisor to the Telangana Government (SC, ST, BC & Minorities) and Congress senior leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir has warned that if the BJP returns to power at the Centre, it will lead to the closure of the Beedi industry, affecting the livelihoods of lakhs of workers across the country.

Speaking at a Bharosa Sammelan organised by the Congress party at Munnuru Kapu Kalyana Mandapam in Pragati Nagar, Nizamabad Urban constituency, Shabbir Ali urged the Beedi workers to elect the Congress party’s Nizamabad candidate, T. Jeevan Reddy, with a large majority in the upcoming parliamentary elections on May 13. Other Congress leaders, including TPCC Working President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, attended the event.

Shabbir Ali assured the Beedi workers that the Congress party would always stand by them, providing necessary support to protect their livelihood, health, and welfare.

He highlighted that 14 major Beedi industries in Telangana employ approximately seven lakh workers. Still, the BJP government at the Centre and the previous BRS government in the state have failed to address the rampant poverty among these workers or their severe health issues.
