The party of orators is now in search of spokesmen. They want to conduct elocution competitions and find taletnt and then groom them for the party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants the BJP go for a ‘talent hunt’ to infuse new blood in the party.
Modi, has suggested that the party hold mock parliament across the country to spot talent from different social and professional backgrounds. These leaders will be groomed for different roles in the organisation, such as spokespersons.
“The idea is find leaders who are educated, ideologically aligned to the BJP and articulate to put forth the government and party’s viewpoint on different platforms effectively,” a union minister told media.
The PM, a party leader explained, wants to create a new BJP that has a “pool of talent” for different assignments.
He is particularly conscious of the BJP’s faces in the media and is understood to be unhappy with their performance in defending the party and the government on critical issues.
“He feels that BJP’s media faces lack the ability to counter criticism through facts and get carried away by opposition’s agenda,” another BJP office bearer explained.
Modi had advised BJP leaders, at the Bhubaneswar conclave this month, against making out of turn statement and creating controversy. Citing several instances, Modi had cautioned leaders saying these were efforts by the Opposition to distract them from working.
The new talent will be deployed across South, which the party has been targeting since last several years. In some states the party is mostly dependent on media more than the work and action.
