The City of Minarets and pearls, Hyderabad has been the epicenter for MIM and its activities. But the latest is that the BJP is looking at Hyderabad parliament seat and they want to trounce Asaduddin Owaisi who gives them the tough time in the parliament.
The question is whether the MIMs sentiment will play a role in the Lok Sabha elections here or not. The 12 percent reservations promised by the TRS chief K Chandrasekhar rao will make all the difference for TRS and MIM.MIM is the friendly party for TRS.
This time both TRS and BJP will fight the election on caste lines and the MIM may note all the Muslims votes. All the main parties in Telangana have started the campaigning for the coming elections..
Looking at the previous campaigns in Hyderabad, one gets the impression that only one party is contesting the elections from this Hyderabad parliamentary constituency. The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen has been winning this seat for several years now and the scenario does not appear to be any different this time around. But after UP Amit Shah the BJP chief is concentrating on Telangana and also Hyderabad seat.
There are 16 lakh voters in this constituency of which 65 per cent are minorities, and this is a factor that will help the MIM this time too.
MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi with regard to Bharatiya Janata Party’s PM Narendra Modi, has managed to instil a sense of insecurity in the minds of the people and states that Hyderabad will be under the control of Modi .
Then the firebrand politician adds, “There is a need for me to be in Parliament with the maximum number of seats and votes in order to counter the communal forces”.
The Modi factor in fact helped Owaisi to get more Muslim votes from Hyderabad. But now there are allegations that MIM is hand in glove with BJP and helping BJP to win more seats in the muslim areas by dividing the votes/ Congress senior leader Digvijay has charged that MIM took 400 crore to contest in UP for the sake of BJP. There are rumors that MIM would contest from all the seats in Telangana.
It could be safely said that the other parties have been extremely lacklustre when it comes to Hyderabad cannot give tough competition. It looked as though they have already given up before the battle has even begun..But this time it will be different. The UP victory has given a boost to the party.
It’s interesting that Muslim voters of the constituency have often complained against Owaisi, but somehow their displeasure doesn’t get reflected in the verdict. This time, however, the talk of developmental issues is not that high on the agenda of the Muslims of Hyderabad.
