Ravi Shastri the senior coach of the Indian team said that the players should be very proud of what they have achieved in the last two years in the field of cricket. The world knows about the standards of the Indian cricket he said. Just 30 minutes of cricket cannot change the real capability of the Indian team he opined.
There was a lot of flak against the decision for sending Dhoni at number 7. Shashtri calrifed that it was a team decision. As a good finisher of the game, Dhoni was kept for finishing the game. He opined that if Dhoni was sent early it would have been very difficult f chase the game to that extent.
He said that since Dhoni was sent at the 7nth place we were able to come to that extent in chasing the total. It was a collective and Team decision to send Dhoni at that stage he explained.
It is a known fact that India crashed out of the World Cup against the Kiwis chasing a mere total of 240. Losing 3 wickets very early made all the difference to the team. Dhoni was the greatest finisher and he was supposed to be sent at that place to finish the game.
Be proud for what all you have achieved and look for the future Shashtri he told the team members. Dhoni and Jadeja raised the hope for India for some time but they could not sustain the momentum till the end.
