Basavaraj Bommai is the new CM of Karnataka

Basavaraj Bommai the son of SR Bommai is the new Chief Minister of Karnataka. His name was proposed by outgoing Chief Minister Yediyurappa and was elected unanimously.

The 61-year-old Bommai has held various portfolios as Minister in Karnataka. He was with JDU before joining the BJP. He is a 2 time MLA and 3 time MLC.

Bommai will take oath today at Raj Bhavan. His family members were also there at the Raj Bhavan for the swearing-in ceremony. Saying that he is grateful to Modi and Shah, Bommai said that his first challenge is to take care of the Covid situation.

He also stated that the opposition is there to oppose. Bommai is the close aid to Yediyurappa. It was a smooth transit of power from Yeddi to Bommai which was overseen by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and G Kishan Reddy.

First Bommai will take charge as the CM and then the cabinet formation will be done in the due course of time. Yeddyurappa has crossed 75 and there is a talk that he could be appointed as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh.
