Popular Balapur Ganesh Laddu Auctioned Today for Record Breaking Price of 15.60 lakh taken by Nagam Tirupathi Reddy. Last year it was Rs 14.65 Lakhs Bought By Skylab Reddy businessman of the village.
“It is a great fortune to be able to win the Laddu in the auction,” a delighted Skylab Reddy said last time.
A total of 24 people participated in the auction but the main competition was between Maheshwaram MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy, businessman Skylab Reddy and a local resident Singi Reddy Jaihind Reddy. The bidding started at around 10 a.m. .
Festive atmosphere is seen all around the Balapur town with the slogan chanting of “Ganapathi Bappa Moriya” as people bid farewell to Lord Ganesha on the 11th day of Ganesh Utsavalu.
Over the past few years, the laddu auction at the Balapur Ganesh pandal on the 11th day of the immersion, has become a much anticipated event, with people taking part in large numbers.
This year’s bid was Rs. 5 lakh higher than last year’s auction price Rs. 9.50 lakh.
Speaking to press after offering prayers,Tirypathi reddy said that the family for long has been planning to bid the laddu and tasted success now.
The tradition was started in the year 1994 – the first time the laddu was auctioned for Rs. 450 and was bought by one K Mohan Reddy, a local resident of the village.The funds are generally spent on the village development and welfare activities.
