AP CM Chandrababu is making wrong selections. He has selected SRM for setting up a university in AP. Land has been allocated and some poojas were also done. But the reality is that SRM and its owner are dubious. SRM had never had a good track record and Chandrababu preferred the same for Andhra Pradesh. It is better that no one from AP or TS go to SRM.
SRM University Chancellor TR Pachamuthu has been arrested by the Chennai Crime Branch police following complaints from the parents of more than 100 students who had paid capitation fee for medical seats in SRM medical college. The case was registered after his close aide Madhan went missing in May allegedly after collecting several crores from medical seat aspirants.
Following several complaints of alleged payment of capitation fee for MBBS admissions by parents in 2013, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had conducted raids in SRM Group of institutions and Madhan’s Vendhar movies, which had yielded unaccounted cash worth several crores.
While Madhan’s family alleged that he went missing after paying all the money collected to Pachamuthu, there were protests by parents and students before Pachamuthu’s residence. A few weeks ago, the Madras High Court criticised the police for long delay in tracing the whereabouts of Madhan.It is reported that Pachamuthu has been arrested under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 34 (common intention).
Madhan, who was also a high-profile Tamil film producer, allegedly wrote a letter to his friends saying that he was going to attain ‘Samadhi’ in Varanasi before he went missing on May 28. The letter he wrote to his friends had blamed SRM group of institutions and claimed that he used to work as an admission agent for the SRM group.
