Addressing at a simple function organised to release the Autobiography of Sri APVN Sarma, a retired IAS Officer of 1974 batch, titled ‘Naruni Sevalo Narayanudu’ written by Dr. R. Ananta Padmanabha Rao, held at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan on Monday, Governor Sri E.S.L. Narasimhan said Sri Sarma is an embodiment of humility, kindness, integrity and born to serve the people. Governor said Sri Sarma is known for his humility, integrity, competency and stands out as a role model for the bureaucrats.
He said Sri Sarma was known as Shipping Sarma in Delhi in those days when was the Additional Secretary in the Shipping Ministry. He said he felt very happy in 2014 when he was informed that Sri Sarma was being appointed as an Advisor to the Governor and ever since he proved to be an invaluable asset to him and he was benefited by his advise. Governor said that if Singareni Collieries is earning accolades today that is because of the efforts and hard work of Sri Sarma for the revival of the institution as Chairman of MD of Singareni Collieries, which almost became a sick industry in those days. He said Sarma while working for the revival of Singareni Collieries also implemented several reforms for the welfare of workers.
Governor said throughout his career, Sri Sarma, left his footprint in all the positions held by him, be it as Collector of three districts, rehabilitation works during floods, setting up Public Health Centres in all mandals etc. Governor said Sri Sarma’s tenure as Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams stands out, as during this time that two important institutions were set up such as the Sri Venkateswara Vedic University and the SVBC Channel and served the Lord with utmost devotion.
