AP tragedy toll rises to 23

At least 23 people were killed and several others were feared to have drowned after a tourist boat capsized near Krishna river in Andhra Pradesh.

Reports said the boat, which has a capacity to carry 20 passengers, was overcrowded 38.

However, Simple Water Sports, the authority that runs the boat, claimed that the number of passengers was within the stipulated limit.

The people who survived said that they were not given life jackets.
