Making his intentions clear, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu wants theTDP to remain in power for the next 20 years in the state. Going a step further, he directed his party leaders to ensure that there is no Opposition.
“There should not be any space for opposition parties in the state. Take this advice seriously,” Naidu told ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior leaders in a teleconference here on Saturday. Urging them to work with a concrete plan and display organised skills, he said, “We can reach the desired goals only when there is no Opposition.”
Not stopping at that, he went to say, “If the state has to benefit, TDP has to remain in power for next 20 years.” He highlighted on the need for political consolidation in every district and constituency before the party heads for 2019 elections. Before that, he wants the party to win MLC elections.
“The legislative council elections should be the platform to take the TDP among people,” he explained. He directed the party rank and file to gear up for the upcoming elections to the legislative council from graduates and teachers’ constituencies.
He asked senior leaders to strengthen the party among all sections of society. “Counter the propaganda of the opposition parties and dispel any misgivings among people on varius government programmes and welfare schemes,” he said.
Trying to strike a chord with legislators, he implored, “Development of the state and welfare of people is a ‘yagna’ for me and everyone should join hands with me.” He stressed that well-being of the party should be of paramount importance.
He also spoke on pursuing value-filled politics and honest business. “I am able to run my business (Heritage Foods) successfully with the cooperation of farmers, family members and mettle of the staff. If I do something wrong, it will spread across the state,” he pointed out.
