Anjani Kumar will be the DGP from today. A warm send-off has been given to Mahendra Reddy the outgoing DGP. Anjani will formally take over this afternoon.
Anjani made it very clear that there will be no friendly policing for professional criminals. They will be dealt with in a firm manner. All the law-abiding citizens will definitely get the friendly policing he assured.
Anjani thanked Mahendar for guiding him in many respects. He said that the command control building in Banjarahills will be one of the major achievements under the Mahendar Reddy tenure.
Telangana government headed by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao appointed senior IPS officer Anjani Kumar as the new director general of police (DGP), in place of M Mahender Reddy, who is retiring from service on superannuation on December 31.
Anjani Kumar, a 1990-batch IPS officer, is presently the director general of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He had earlier served as the Hyderabad city police commissioner.
However, the order said Anjani Kumar will only be holding full additional charge of the DGP for the time being, till the government appoints a full-time DGP, after getting approval from the Union home ministry. He will also act as the DGP (Coordination).
