Ambani is all set to give a still competion and uber and other cab services like Ola in the country. With Jio he has made his mark in the Mobile phone call services, now he will enter Cab services in the name of Jio it is reported.
Jio is reportedly planning to launch its app-based cab service in Bangalore and Chennai to begin with. It would later move on to Delhi and Mumbai, pursuing a mixed market strategy which could see it entering smaller cities like Bhopal and Jaipur as well. If that wasn’t enough, Jio is also said to be working on an Uber-like app with payments to likely use its incumbent Jio Money service.
The company has reached out to Mahindra and Hyundai and is looking to build its own fleet of cabs for the purpose. Also, it has reached out to consulting firm E&Y to come up with pricing strategies that would enable Jio to “go all out to get market share,” adds the report.
Jio recently announced that it had roped in a mammoth 100 million subscribers for its 4G telecom services. It would start charging these subscribers from April 1. Depending on how many subscribers it manages to retain over the course of time, it would take the next step. In this case, its own take on Uber and Ola.
