BSP and SP coming together in UP has changed the political equations for the Congress party. The Congress party has thought it fit to bring in Priyanka Gandhi for the East UP so that the party would get some more seats.
It was the Poll strategist Prashant Kishore who suggested that Priyanka should be the main campaigner in the earlier elections. But the Congress leaders did not take his suggestion then. Now that the Congress has been sidelined by the Akhilesh and Maya Combine they had no other option but make her one of the AICC General Secretaries for taking care of the East UP.
Political analysts and leaders have started comparing her with Indira Gandhi her grandmother and are of the opinion that Rahul will get the required support for the UP elections.
But how far this charisma of Priyanka will work against the Jodi of Maya and Akhilesh remains to be seen. The BJP has got the advantage in the form of the opposition getting divided before the elections.
If the Congress, SP and BSP were together then the BJP would have a tough time. Now it is relatively easy for the BJP in tackling a divided opposition. But the announcement of Priyanka has brought a lot of mileage to the Congress party at the national level.
If Priyanka succeeds in UP, then she will definitely get a bigger responsibility, branding her as the next Indira for India.
