Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Sunday called for a holistic approach to the health of pregnant women at different stages of pregnancy.
She said that the healthcare of the women should start even before the pregnancy period and must be sustained during the pregnancy to ensure a safe delivery and a healthy child and mother.
Post-delivery care is also vital.The Governor was launching the Garbha Samskara Module, organised by the Samvardhini Nyas, New Delhi, in a virtual mode from the Raj Bhavan, here.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan called for the blended use of ancient Indian knowledge systems and modern medical care for effective care of pregnant women, to ensure the delivery of a healthy baby, and to
protect the health of women.
She advised the pregnant women to take a balanced diet and maintain calmness of the mind while listening to their favourite scriptures, music,etc.
The Governor also expressed concern about the increasing number of cesarean surgeries instead of normal deliveries, which are healthy for women.
