Four people involved in Murder attempt on Akbaruddin MIM MLA were today convicted by the Nampally Court. Saleem Bin Abdullah, Awadh, Omar were convicted by the court today for getting involved in the murder of an MLA.
However the Moahmmed Pahelwan and 10 others were left without any case. They are free and out of the case.
When you go into back ground of the case, Rampant land disputes and settlements in the Old City had a chilling fallout when MIM MLA from Chandrayangutta and party floor leader in the assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi sustained serious injuries in a clash between his followers and rival group at Barkas while one of the opponents was shot dead.
With deep cut injuries on the hands and at least three bullet injuries on the abdomen, Akbaruddin was rushed to the nearby Owaisi Hospital where he was later declared out of danger.
The incident triggered tension in the Old City with MIM supporters converging in hundreds at the hospital and the authorities deploying police personnel at vantage points and imposing section 144 even as shopkeepers downed shutters. The tension eased by the evening after it became clear that Akbaruddin was out of danger, but with the MIM having called for a bandh in the Old City .
The incident happened around 11.20 am, when Akbaruddin, who had embarked on a padayatra in the area at 9 am, went to Peeli Dargah near the MIM party office at Barkas and said that a wall would be raised around the graveyard. He was accompanied by about 60-70 persons including MIM Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala and party Barkas corporator Mansoor bin Mohammed Awalgi.
According to eyewitnesses, Akbaruddin picked up an argument with Younus bin Omar Yafai, resident of the house next to the dargah, and reportedly threatened that he would get them evicted from their premises. All of a sudden, about 10 people led by local leader and Younus’ brother Mohammed Pahelwan came there on two-wheelers carrying swords, knives and firearms and a clash ensued between the two groups.
While Akbaruddin sustained serious injuries, Mohammed Jani, the personal security officer of Malakpet MLA Balala, opened fire with his revolver and shot at the attackers.
Ibrahim, 22, and son of Younus, died of bullet injuries while two of his brothers, Awad, 30, and Abdullah, 35, sustained injuries and are being treated at the hospital. Of the two, Awad was said to be in a critical condition then.
