What a match it turned out to be yesterday at the Wankhede stadium. Chasing Kings XI Punjab’S 231 Mumbai Indians came very close before losing by seven runs.
Keiron Polard and Hardik Pandya batted brilliantly as they tore the Pun jab XI bowling into pieces. Mumbai were off to a fantastic start with Lendl Simmons and Parthiv Patel putting up a fine opening partnership, but after they got out Mumbai suddenly came under pressure, losing two more wickets in the middle including their skipper Rohit Sharma.
Then it was Pollard – Pandya show which was enjoyed by huge crowd at the Wankhede. Thirty six balls and ninety plus runs the equation looked out of Mumbai reach. But Pollard and Pandya made it look so easy, hammering all the bowlers, in particular Henry as they scored twenty seven runs in one of his overs. As the victory target came close Mumbaii lost Pandya and Karn Sharma. Pollard did his best to help his side score a remarkable win, but his fantastic effort unfortunately went in vain.
In today’s match at the Ferozsyakotla Rising Pune Supergaint will play Delhi Daredevils to try for a second spot, though they have not yet confirmed playoff berth hundred percent. A win of course will help them not only make it to the last four. but also provide them a chance to fight for second position.
They will be missing Fad duplisis and Imran Tahir. They had to join the South African side for the Champions trophy preparatory camp.
RPS have made a tremendous comeback after their early struggle and they will go all out today.
