Ace shuttler PV Sindhu made it absolutely clear that she will continue to train under Pullela Gopichand.
Sindhus statement came in after Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali had said that the state government would provide a new coach to Olympic silver medallist so that she may do even better.
“For me, Gopichand is my best coach. Don’t want to comment on what minister said,” Sindhu said during an interview.
After Sindhu became the first Indian woman shuttler to win silver at Olympics, Ali had said: “Our Telangana daughter has earned a name in the entire world. We intend to give a very good coach to Sindhu going forward. Her (present) coach (Pullela Gopichand) is also very good.
But in addition to that, going forward in any international match, we are sure that she will bring a gold medal.”
Sindhu came close to become India’s first woman individual Olympic gold medallist before losing to Spain’s Carolina Marin in an enthralling final.
