The Congress has lost miserably in the Maha and Mumbai elections. They were actually not in the race. The stocks of Rahul Gandhi the Vice President of the Congress have further come down. Now what happens in UP has to be seen. Majority of the poll strategists and also predictions say that Congress will fail in UP. The alliance between Akhilesh and Rahul will fail miserably. Akhilesh has already found out that the alliance is going to fail and that there was no charisma for Rahul here in the UP.
Now whom will they target. They are planning to Target Prashant Kishor the poll strategist it is reported. He planned the alliance and campaign for UP. Pranshant strategy worked for BJP, but it is not working for the Congress party. Rahul is unable to take it forward. They also tried Priyanka, but nothing changed.
A lot of introspection has to be done. The BJP is going to be there for another 10 years and survival for the Congress is going to be very difficult. In case the Congress does not fare well in the current set of assembly polls, the party’s rank and file will look for somebody to blame for the poor result. Since they cannot mount an attack on Rahul Gandhi, poll strategist Prashant Kishor who was roped in by the Nehru-Gandhi scion to plan the party’s campaign in UP, Punjab and Uttarakhand, will be the obvious target.
Congress leaders involved with the campaign are particularly irked as Kishor is invariably incommunicado, stressing he has a hotline to Mr Gandhi. They grumbled that Kishor makes tall promises but fails to deliver. One such was his promise to get cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu to campaign in Uttarakhand.
Some seniors don’t endorse the ways and means being adopted by Kishore and they think, the people at the grass root are not responding to the Congress leaders.
Now is the time for the Congress to change.
