MLA yadagiri today had an interesting discussion in the Assembly over Toddy and its medicinal values. Being an MLA he admitted that they have a toddy tree in his house and he enjoys drinking it.
He said that there were three varieties of toddy and that the Government must see for its storage. By drinking fresh toddy the heart valve blocks can be removed and that it was proved medically.
The MLA said that there was nothing to hide about this and when ever he went to his village he has fresh toddy and enjoys it. It is medically very useful for the well being of the heart he pointed out.
Speaker Madhusudana Chary wanted the members to discuss only about the plight of toddy tappers and not about the toddy. MLA Srinivas goud while praising the CM for opening the toddy shops wanted a task force to look into the plight of the toddy tappers and stop illicit toddy brewing in the state. The toddy tappers are not getting the pensions properly he pointed out.
Minister Padmarao said that the Government was ready to give membership for the toddy workers. New implements are brought in from Kerala for climbing the tree he explained.
This is to prevent the accident while climbing the trees he said. I am also a member in the Toddy tapping community the minister added.Toddy trees cutting will be stopped he assured the members in the house.
BJP member Prabhakar suggested that the welfare of toddy tappers must be taken up properly. He pointed out about a posting in social media where a tapper died after falling from the tree. The Ministers assured the member that it will be looked into.
