Radhay Sham of Delhi Police stole the show on day one of the `Shaktiman’ 35th All India Police Equestrian championship which got under way at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.
As a tribute, the event is named after Shaktiman, the Uttarakhan horse which died sometime back, after getting injured in a rally.
In the six bar jumping 15 horse riders from different parts of India took part, while only four could reach the final stage, without any fouls.
But when the height was increased to test the real skills of the riders Radhay Sham’s horse `Akash’ was outstanding as he could finish successfully without any fouls to the delight of big crowd. Jitendra Kumar of Rajashtan also excelled in the meet.
Earlier the event was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for youth affairs and sports Vijay Goel, while the director of academy Aruna M Bahuguna inspired the participants with her message.
Vijay Goel, in his speech was all praise for the National Police Academy officials, the way the academy has been maintained over the years. He also paid rich tributes to `Shaktiman’ the horse.
The championship will end on January 10.
