The Ganesha Laddu here at the Bandlaguda cost 1,87 crore for the bidders. It was purchased by 25 25-person group at the Richmond villas today. It was 1.27 crore last year. This is a record price across the country.
Keerthi Richmond Villas installed the Idol here and it was a grand gala celebration at Bandlaguda. Free food and good prasadam were provided here. The first bidding at Balapur took place in 1994 when Kolan Mohan Reddy secured for Rs 450, and very next year same person by making it Rs 4,500. In 1996, Kolan Krishna Reddy took for Rs 18,000 but the demand increased reaching Rs 1,05,000 in 2002 by Kondade Madhav.
In 2015 the auction bidding reached seven digit, when Kallen Madhan Mohan Reddy took the laddu for 10,32,000. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the organizers bared the laddu auction for the preventive reasons and same laddu has been gifted to the then Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
A large number of people thronged the Tank Bund to take part in the procession of Bada Ganesh. To avoid any inconvenience to the Ganesh idol from the larger number of people, the Hyderabad Police deputedtwo layers of rope parties.
The 70-ft tall Ganesh idol will be immersed after final prayers. A huge and towering crane has been brought specially for lifting the idol.
