What happens to the Heritage buildings in old city is a big question. The metro rail route is touching many Heritage buildings and we have to see how people would react to the lang acquisition here at these sites.

Earlier KCR staged a dharna against Assembly buildings and the Nampally rout apart from Sultan Bazaar. But later it was done through Sultan Baazar. But Owaisi brothers assured of all the cooperation for the development of the metro rail project through the Old city.

The metro works are moving forward in a phased manner in the old city.

According to the latest reports1,200 properties had been identified along the 7.5-km stretch passing through Darulshifa, Purani Haveli, Etebar Chowk, Alijakotla, Mir Momin Daira, Haribowli, Shalibanda, Shamsheergunj, and Falaknuma Road.”

“Land will be acquired according to the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act,” N.V.S. Reddy said. Heritage activists have expressed concern over a lack of information regarding the Metro Rail alignment.

“The area has many heritage structures. Spot inspection needs to be done. The information about planning and development needs to be made available online. We were told the same things for Nampally Sarai and Sultan Bazaar in the previous phase,” said Anuradha Reddy, convener,of Intach-Hyderabad.

Lets hope the Government will be able to execute the old city metro route at the earliest possible.
