Gadkari to remain on roads

While there is speculation about the portfolios, the one ministry that will not be changed is the Ministry of Roads and Buildings and that goes for Gadkari.

It is already reserved for Gadkari the taskmaster who performed well during his tenure and he will continue with the same this time too.

BJPs top performer Nitin Gadkari is likely to retain the road transport and highways portfolio in the third Narendra Modi government, thanks to the stellar work in expanding road connectivity to the most remote corners in the first two terms.

There is a talk if at all a chance comes after Modi, the PM post will be given to Gadkari.

The allocation of ministerial berths is a challenge for the BJP this time, as it has fallen short of a majority and has to follow coalition dharma by accommodating allies.

BJPs partners this time include Coalition-era veterans N Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar. Despite this, the BJP is not keen to let go of key ministries, especially the big four — Home, Finance, Defence and External Affairs.

The ruling party which could not get a majority is not keen on handing over the road transport portfolio to allies either so that the momentum in expanding roads continues.
