Early trends during the counting of postal ballots showed the Opposition’s INDIA bloc leading in 37 seats, with Samajwadi Party leading in 31 and Congress in 6 seats in Uttar Pradesh, according to the Election Commission.

The state sends the maximum number of representatives to the Lok Sabha — 80 — and is seen as one of the most decisive factors in determining which party or alliance will form the government at the Centre.
