Akhilesh is able to give a tough time to BJP here in UP. After developing Varanasi in a big way Modi is unable to give tough fight to SP. Right now Modi was trailing in Varanasi while Rahul was leading.

Early trends during the counting of postal ballots showed the Opposition’s INDIA bloc leading in 37 seats, with Samajwadi Party leading in 31 and Congress in 6 seats in Uttar Pradesh, according to the Election Commission.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in a neck-and-neck fight with the SP, and is currently leading in 31 seats. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in 36 seats and the INDIA bloc in 37 seats.

As the results of the 18th Lok Sabha elections are set to be declared today, all eyes will be on Uttar Pradesh and how major political parties perform there. The state sends the maximum number of representatives to the Lok Sabha — 80 — and is seen as one of the most decisive factors in determining which party or alliance will form the government at the Centre.

In the 2019 elections, the NDA won 62 seats in the state, paving the way for its second term at the Centre.
